Whooping Cough Vaccination Requirement
Whooping cough (pertussis) has been widespread in California. Many students have had to miss school because they were sick. To help protect your children and others from whooping cough, a new California law now requires students to be vaccinated against whooping cough.
For the 2011-12 school year only, all students entering 7th through 12th grades will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (commonly called the “Tdap” vaccine) before starting school.
Thereafter, in future school years, only students entering 7th grade will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) before starting school. Please see the following resources (downloadable PDFs) for more information:

For the 2012-2013 school year, and all future school years, all students entering, advancing or transferring into 7th grade will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster immunization (called “Tdap”) before starting school in the fall. Make your doctor appointment today!
Pertussis is a very contagious respiratory disease that can be severe and last for months. The immunity received from either early childhood immunization or pertussis disease wears off over time, leaving older students and adults susceptible again to pertussis. Immunization with Tdap can protect students, schools and communities against pertussis.
