*** Welcome to English Class ***
LET’S BEGIN WITH SETTING POSITIVE EXPECTATIONS!
In my classroom, I set high expectations for myself and for my students. Our positive attitudes help us to work together to achieve our goals, to not fear failure, but rather to embrace each new moment when we learn how to do something better than before. A successful day in my classroom is one where everyone has an answer to the question: “What was my contribution today?”
I believe that every student who enters my classroom IS a reader and a writer. Now, that may not mean that every child who participates in class is due to become the next bestselling novelist; however, our lives call upon us to read, write, listen and speak effectively. Being a reader and writer is truly about being a thinker. The greater our literacy, the greater our opportunities regardless of where our immediate abilities, personal interests, and future aspirations lie.
This year, we will begin with a mutual respect, learn by doing, and make English about us! I look forward to a meaningful year together. Please take a look at the current "First Day Letter" for a list of optional classroom supplies.
