Principal's Message

A message from our principal- Mr. Jones

Dear Newhart Students, Parents and Staff,

As your principal, I am extremely excited to be part of the Newhart community.  I am thrilled to be the educational leader of such a student centered school as Newhart Middle School.  Newhart has dedicated and talented teachers who are motivated to help every student achieve, from those in our STEAM and Language focused classrooms to our STEPS classes and all in between.  This is evident when one looks at years of high test scores that continue to improve.  As principal, it is my job to support and promote the established foundation of collaboration between teachers, and further promote the highest degree of education for every student, ensuring continued growth.  Our teachers will continue to work in their collaborative teams to develop the most effective teaching strategies to ensure students are truly grasping the main concepts of the curriculum in every classroom.

We are fortunate to have a strong community at Newhart Middle School.  There are numerous ways for students and parents to stay involved.  I am overwhelmed by the amount of support and pride I see everyday from our outstanding PTA, students and the community.  Our PTA has done amazing things for our school over the past few years to improve the school environment and technology and I am so proud to call myself a Newhart Panther.  I firmly believe in open and meaningful communication between school and home.  My door is always open so please take the time to stop and say hello. I am looking forward to meeting each and every one of you during the course of the year.

CUSD is, has been and will continue to be an excellent educational organization.  I grew up in this area, attending San Juan Elementary, Marco Forster Middle School, and Capistrano Valley High School.  Currently my own children are starting their education in Capistrano Unified at George White Elementary.  Because of this, I know how fortunate we are to live in a beautiful place with great educational opportunities.  I am extremely proud to represent this great school as your principal.  My passion for student success started in Orange Unified School District as a teacher where I taught Special Education for one year and Social Studies for six years.  Due to a personal desire to influence more students, and to help develop the lives of students outside my class as well as inside, I decided to become an administrator.  I served as an Assistant Principal in the La Habra City School District for two years and as the Assistant Principal of Marco Forster Middle School here in Capistrano Unified for four years before becoming the Principal at Newhart.

I am honored and humbled to be your principal.  We will continue to work hard to make the Newhart experience a tremendous one.   The heart of any school begins and ends with the people who enter it every day, from the staff, to the students and finally, their families. As principal, I am continually working to build a community where each and every one of those people, when asked where they work or attend school, will respond with a sense of intense pride in stating: Newhart Middle School.
